Kansas City Chiefs sign deal to move training camp to Missouri - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal:

The Chiefs signed a five-yeatr contract, with five additional one-year to hold training camp at . If the Chiefs decided not to exercise theadditional one-yea r options, the agreement with the Missouri Development Financer Board still requires the team to hold training camp in Missouru until 2020, unless it repays a portiojn of the tax credit. The Chiefs pledgex $10 million to help the university builsd an indoor practice facility in exchange fora $25 milliojn tax credit from the Missouri Development Financer Board. Financing for the new facility alsoincludez $2.25 million from the city of St. Joseph, $2.25 milliojn from Buchanan Countyand $1.
2 milliojn from the Missouri Western Statwe University Max Experience Student Fee program. The universityy previously said that it also is trying to raise anadditional $1 million in private Construction plans at the university includs a climate-controlled, 120-yard indoor field, team and position meeting space for the office space for the Chiefs coachingh staff, an end-zone complex, a new parkingv lot and two 120-yard NFL regulation-size grass fields. The projecrt requires moving the softball fields and acquiring new furnishings and traininbgcamp equipment. Missouri Western will be responsible forthe facility’sd ongoing operation, maintenance and repair.
To provide ongoing financing, the university intendws to sell naming rights to the variou s aspects ofthe project. The university is responsibls for any cost overruns and has assurecd the Chiefs that the facility will be completede beforeJuly 2010. The Chiefs traininvg camp now is inRiver Falls, where it has been since 1991. The team trained at in Libertyy from 1963to 1990.
