D.C. narrows list of developers for Stevens Elementary School - Triangle Business Journal:

Neil Albert, the former deputy mayor for planning and economic developmenrt and newcity administrator, announced Monday that his staff had eliminateds six of the nine originap bidders. A team made up of Chicago-bassed and the , basee in D.C. Moddie Turay Company LLC, based in D.C. and founded by formedr Mayor Anthony Williams' special assistant Moddis Turray. Opus East was originallhy listed as a Turray partner by thedeputu mayor's office but is not included in its list of finalists. A partnershio led by Peebles Development LLC, a likelhy outgrowth of the Peebles Corp., a Coraol Gables, Fla.-based firm led by D.C. native R. Donahuew Peebles. Peebles is teamed with the Walketr Group.
According to a press releasre from Albert, the finalists' proposals offer "variousw combinations of new housing, officd space, hotels and neighborhood-serving retail." Among those eliminatedc are teams ledby Akridge, Cafritz Interests and the Capitopl Hill Business Improvement District, which proposee using the site to train and house homelessw adults. The finalists will presen their plans at a community meetingJune 11, the day aftert a planned community meeting for final developers interestexd in Hine Jr.
